Jay Rockefeller, former US senator and governor of West Virginia, has died at 89

John D. 'Jay' Rockefeller IV died on Friday at his home in Washington. He was 89. A great-grandson of John D. Rockefeller, he came to West Virginia in the 1960s through a national service program, later served two terms as the state's governor, and then represented West Virginia in the US Senate for five terms until he retired. Through his years in office he worked on healthcare access, help for coal miners and veterans, and medical coverage for uninsured children. His family has not given a cause of death. Please pray for his wife, his children and grandchildren, and all in West Virginia who knew him as they grieve.
