Jan Heaslip OAM, remote education advocate in Central Australia, has died at 87

Jan Heaslip OAM has died at 87. She was the founding president of the Northern Territory Isolated Children's Parents' Association and the first chair of the college council of St Philip's College in Alice Springs, and received the Medal of the Order of Australia in 1992 for service to the education of children in isolated areas. She came to Central Australia at 18 and ran Bond Springs cattle station with her late husband Grant for decades. She leaves four children and their families, who say they are bereft. Please pray for her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren as they grieve, and for the Alice Springs community that knew her.
